Our Story

We left our city lives in 2011 and moved to Hickory Bay Farm - near Akaroa.

Fast forward a few years, and here we are, with a family and a few other animals. Home to our 1200-acre certified organic farm, backing onto a quality surf beach.

We raise Speckle Park beef and offer this direct to consumer, while also offering accommodation on the farm. The remoteness is the beauty of the place.

Hickory Bay is truly magical, with consistent surf and rugged scenery. Steeped in history, it boasts un-chiseled charm, appreciated only by those who choose winding rather than straight roads, where cellphone coverage doesn't exist, and where breathtaking scenery, meaningful conversations and uncrowded waves are found in abundance.

Hickory is the abbreviated interpretation of the traditional Maori name - Waikerikikari, meaning 'The bay of angry waters'. The Maori were right, there's pretty much always surf here.
